Exciting Update: The "You Are Not Alone" Mural Has a New Home! 🎨✨
We have some incredibly thrilling news, Wilton! Plans have shifted for our upcoming "You Are Not Alone" Community Mural, and we couldn't be happier about the turn of events.
While the mural was originally set to go up as a temporary installation on a building scheduled for demolition, a spectacular new opportunity has arisen.
Because this project is so deeply meaningful for our town, Wilton Library has stepped in to ensure it gets the spotlight and longevity it truly deserves! Instead of going up at the original location, the library will now host this beautiful, vital piece of public art for the entire summer. This exciting move means the mural won't just be a fleeting pop-up; it will be able to stay up and inspire our community for much longer than originally planned! YAY!
Ultimately, this mural serves a dual purpose: it stands as a visual reminder of community, while the collaborative public painting process itself will generate connection and hope to individuals who may be struggling with loneliness.
By moving to Wilton Library, this powerful message that no one has to struggle in silence will be right at the heart of our town, welcoming everyone who walks through the heart of Wilton.
Why This Matters
Loneliness is now recognized as a worldwide public health epidemic. Surgeon General advisories, youth mental health data, and local experience, all point to the same truth: people of all ages, teens, seniors, new residents, LGBTQIA+ individuals, caregivers, are struggling in silence. Painting this mural together is combating loneliness in action and building community.
Visible, bold, and temporary by design, it says: before this building disappears, we want you to know, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Our project is open to all who want to create. There is no barrier to participation. All ages welcome! Grades 5 and below welcome with adult caregiver supervision.
