Redefining Success: The Post-High School Journey

  • Wilton Library 137 Old Ridgefield Road Wilton, Connecticut, 06897 United States (map)

For years, students have heard that a traditional four-year degree is the only road to success and happiness. But the economy is changing, and so are the students in it. Many want to explore other paths.

Join us for a candid panel discussion with local professionals, business owners, and skilled trades leaders who chose a different route and built happy, deeply rewarding, successful careers without heavy student debt. The discussion will be moderated by Wilton Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kevin Smith.

What You'll Take Away

  • Fulfillment Beyond the Degree: How hands-on, self-directed careers lead to real job satisfaction and growth.

  • Earning Without the Debt: How trades, military service, hospitality, and entrepreneurship can mean earning sooner and borrowing less.

  • Real Paths, Local Voices: The exact steps local entrepreneurs, veterans, and tradespeople took right out of high school.

  • Skills That Last: Industries that value practical skills, work ethic, and certifications.

  • A Bigger Definition of Success: Ease the pressure that college acceptance is the only measure of success, gain confidence in choosing your own path and broaden your horizon.
