Wilton’s First ‘Come Out and Run 5K’ a Spirited Celebration of Pride
Thankfully there was no rain for the runners and walkers participating in Wilton’s first Come Out and Run 5K on Sunday, Sept. 15. There were, however, a multitude of rainbows as the event, hosted by Wilton Pride and Wilton Library, was a celebration of support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Wilton Pride and Wilton Library announced they will co-host the inaugural Come Out and Run 5K on Sunday, Sept. 15, in Wilton, in order to “celebrate pride, diversity, inclusivity, and the spirit of unity in honor of National Coming Out Day in October,” according to a press release from both organizations.
Positive Community Response to Rainbow Pride Crosswalks for Wilton Library and YMCA, for Leading on Inclusivity
This year was the first one that Wilton Pride collaborated with the Riverbrook Regional/Wilton YMCA and Wilton Library to create rainbow-painted crosswalks at their locations during Pride Month. Officials at the library and the YMCA said response from the community was overwhelmingly positive and they agreed that taking the lead on the painted installations sent a message of inclusivity and safety for all in the community — key steps that aligned with both organizations’ missions.
