Come be a part of Wilton's first pop up "You Are Not Alone" Community Mural. Presented by Wilton Pride, Wilton Library, & Wilton Youth Council.
Dates: Friday, June 19th noon to dusk & Saturday, June 20th 10 AM to dusk
The brown building located at 120 Old Ridgefield Rd is scheduled to be demolished some time in the near future- but before it is demolished, the Wilton community is getting together to transform it into a message that matters. Inspired by the You Are Not Alone artwork created at Wilton's first Pride Festival, the community will paint the entire front exterior of the building with those four words: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Why This Matters
Loneliness is now recognized as a worldwide public health epidemic. Surgeon General advisories, youth mental health data, and local experience, all point to the same truth: people of all ages, teens, seniors, new residents, LGBTQIA+ individuals, caregivers, are struggling in silence. Painting this mural together is combating loneliness in action and building community.
Visible, bold, and temporary by design, it says: before this building disappears, we want you to know, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! Our project is open to all who want to create. There is no barrier to participation. All ages welcome! Grades 5 and below welcome with adult caregiver supervision.
